ABOUT "LOS JAIVAS"
On the 15th
August of this year 2013, “Los Jaivas”, the famous Chilean musical group,
celebrated their 50th anniversary with a magnificent free concert
that took place in one of Santiago de Chile’s great parks.
Their
music, which is mostly original, is a mix of folk, progressive rock and Andean
ancestral rhythms. Their instruments and sounds also reflect the Andean
traditions.
This group
was born in Valparaiso, the well-known port just north of Santiago, the capital.
They have
also lived and performed very successfully in both Argentina and France. At the
moment they are back in Chile, much to the delight of the thousands of fans.
The group
has experienced some changes over the years. Some of their members have met
with rather tragic deaths, some of their members have left to pursue their own
musical career, and some of their present members are descendants of the
original founders.
However
that may be, the music goes on without loosing popularity.
The words
of their songs speak of unity and the brotherhood of all nations.
They are
against violence and wars and they tend to honor our ancestral Andean origins.

pleasure to present this song on this Blog post. It is much loved in Chile and
has also become an international hit. I
think it is justly famous. I hope you will like it too!

who is now dead. She had the talent and has undergone a lengthy training.

EL FAMOSO CONJUNTO CHILENO “LOS JAIVAS”
Qué alegría poder decir que “los Jaivas” han cumplido 50
años de exitosas presentaciones, tanto en Chile como fuera de este país!
Su música es altamente original, una mezcla de rock
progresivo con los ritmos y tonalidades de la música Andina de América del Sur.
Como conjunto vieron la luz en Valparaíso, el nostálgico
puerto de Chile Central. También han tenido exitosas carreras en Argentina y
Francia. En la actualidad se encuentran de regreso en Chile.
Los integrantes han variado un tanto a lo largo de los años.
Algunos de ellos han fallecido y otros se han retirado para proseguir sus
propios caminos al éxito musical. En la actualidad se han integrado algunos de
los descendientes de los miembros originales.
Los cambios no han influido en absoluto en la popularidad de
su música.
Las letras de sus canciones hablan de la unidad y de la hermandad
de las naciones. Son contrarios a la violencia de las guerras y frecuentemente
rinden tributo a nuestros ancestros Andinos.
